Police case in the UAE: check and closure
We find out exactly what you are accused of and at what stage the case stands, assess the risk of restrictions and detention on departure, support you at interrogation, and represent your interests before the public prosecution.
When clients come to us
- you received a call from the police or a summons
- a complaint has been filed against you by a former partner, landlord or employer
- you found out about the case from a bank or at the border
- you are called in for questioning and do not understand the charge
- the case has been closed but restrictions remain
What we do
- check for the existence and status of the case with the police and the public prosecution
- establish the classification: an administrative offence, a misdemeanour, or a crime
- assess the risk of a travel ban, detention and frozen accounts
- prepare a position and written explanations in Arabic
- arrange an advocate and interpreter for the interrogation
- work towards closing the case or reconciling the parties, where possible
How the work proceeds
- Urgent check. You give us the case number or police station. Within one to two days we establish the stage, the classification, and the complainant.
- Risk assessment. We determine whether restrictions on travel or accounts have been imposed, and what will happen if you fly.
- Position. We prepare explanations and evidence. The advocate accompanies you to all procedural steps, and the interpreter ensures the wording is accurate.
- Outcome. We work towards discontinuing the case, reconciling with the complainant, or moving the case to court with a defence already prepared. Once closed, we verify that restrictions have been lifted.
Documents required
- copy of your international passport and Emirates ID
- summons or case number
- correspondence and documents relating to the situation
- the complainant's contact details, if known

Коротко о главном
Yes, if a restriction has been imposed in connection with the case. That is exactly why the status should be checked before buying a ticket, not on the day of departure.
Signing documents in Arabic without a translation, giving explanations without an advocate, transferring money to the complainant hoping to "smooth things over", and deleting correspondence.
For a significant share of privately prosecuted cases — yes, if the complainant withdraws the complaint. This has to be formalised procedurally; a verbal agreement is not enough.
Some steps — yes, by power of attorney. But personal attendance at an interrogation is usually required, and it is better to prepare for it than to postpone it.
